Babies can snowboard.

My father-in-law and I were talking today about how my husband, Franck, began snowboarding at five years old. He said that as soon as Franck saw his big brother, age 11 at the time, ride a snowboard, he dumped his skis and never looked back.

The problem was since Franck was little and snowboarding being such a young American sport – this was 1985 (the year I was born) it was unimaginably tough to find the proper equipment in France. He groaned at the trouble they went through to outfit their eager five year old boy.

I told him that knowing us and the nature of Franck’s work, which is making snowboards, his future grandchildren would learn as soon as they could hold a balance – probably going on two years old. He didn’t believe that it was possible, so I referenced these videos as a case in point.

However, Franck says he would wait because baby joints are very supple and snowboarding, if done improperly, can wreak havoc on the joints. Nevertheless, babies can snowboard, Pat.
