What makes Franck do a happy dance upon coming home from work? Snacks and a cold beer. The French are big on their aperitifs, a light snack with an alcoholic beverage before dinner. After riding twenty miles a day to get to and from work, this is a well deserved snack. Sometimes, we mix it up with tapenade, olives, and whatever is fresh in the fridge, but we always have a mix of sweet and salty. It takes no more than three minutes to create a simple spread of snacks.
What I like about having Franck’s after work snack ready is that he’ll sit down and talk with me either about his work day, which doesn’t happen too often, or about things we need to do or recent family news. It’s nice to take fifteen to twenty minutes to chat before he gets a shower and we walk the dogs together.
How do you welcome your husband or wife at the end of a long day?
