Constant Contact with God: Using Our Channels of Divine Communication

Yesterday, I was thinking a lot about my car. It’s an older, yet nice car. We don’t use it a lot or go very far with it, however it is scheduled for a lot of repairs and my husband and I were debating whether or not to go forward with all of the work or just trade it in and get a newer, bigger one for the family.

I was so focused on thinking things through and I had gotten wrapped up in my thoughts and it began to make me feel grumpy in indecision. Ever had that happen to you?

Well, I decided to back off from thinking about it and just said to God and my angels, “I leave it to you guys to give me a sign. I can’t think anymore about it today.”

Not too much longer, my good friend stopped by unannounced for a quick drink and hello. It was a welcomed surprise and a way to talk about the issue. I eventually said I’d ask my angels for advice and allow time to reveal the answer to me because thinking too much about the car was beginning to confuse me, and, when we’re confused, we usually make poor decisions.

She said, “Why do you always ask your angels for help? You can’t just think it through?”

“Because, I’ve already thought about it enough.” I explained, “It’s not like I ask my angels what I should eat for dinner….”

“I should hope not!” she joked.

After she had left, I thought about what she said. The truth was, sometimes I do ask my angels for inspiration for dinner. Sometimes I just don’t know what to make. I asked to be led to use what I have in the pantry in a creative and nutritious way and somehow, inspiration occurs.

The thing about communicating with the divine is that it happens all of the time. Once we have chosen to open our God-given channels, the messages come just as fast as we send them out.

I have asked to be guided by God. Some call it the Universe, some use angels, some use ascendent masters like Jesus, Mohammed, and the Buddha. When we ask for guidance and have chosen the path of enlightenment and spiritual evolution, the communication channels have been unblocked and we are the receiver of endless messages, much like a radio receiving a transmission.

For me, the communication happens when I clear my mind and stop thinking. It happens when I am immersed in coaching clients and totally focused on the present moment. It happens when I sleep and dream. When I wrap myself up in thoughts – one leading to another on an endless path of confusion trying to figure things out in a one-way communication with myself – I know that I am not on the right track. I realize that it’s time to just stop and open up and see what comes in.

I remember working with a nice man in San Diego. He said he always got the best ideas in the shower. These ideas were usually well received and inspired. I asked him why that happened and he said, “Because it’s the only time that I quiet my mind. The ideas just pop in my head!”

The point is, we can either choose to close our communication channels with God, the Universe, or whatever you want to call it or allow them to be open so we can receive divinely led messages for the highest good of all involved. Once we make the decision to open our channels, it doesn’t make sense to close them once we know that it’s good for us.

So yes, everyday and in every moment, I keep my eyes, my ears, my mind, and heart open to receive messages. I have no intention of closing them. Sometimes, “thinking things through” too much can be too confusing. For me, quieting my mind and opening up to receive inspiration, advice, and insight is much easier than trying to be the sole source of all the solutions to my problems. Who cares where the best answer comes from as long as it works out for all involved? It’s the reason why we go to other people for help and insight in the first place – this can also include God, the ascendent masters, and our angels, too!
